Ruto Takes Advantage of Today's Prayer Rally to Say this as Top Clergy Protests
Today, president William Ruto led other Kenyans in prayers where they held a prayer rally in Nyayo National Stadium to pray for rains and the draught situation in Kenya. The prayerful head of state said that Kenya needs the intervention of God if the current situations are to get any better.
When president Ruto got the opportunity to address the congregants at the Nyayo Stadium, he didn't miss that opportunity to attack the opposition led by Raila Odinga. Ruto also took a swipe on the previous administration where he said that the country had accumulated huge and reckless debts and that it's his effort to make Kenya a debt free nation.
"The word of God teaches us that a good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children, he doesn’t leave debt for his children. We had accumulated too much reckless debt & I want to say with a lot of humility that we will make this country debt-free." President William Ruto.
Ruto also touched on the previous administration where he said that despite the deep state and all those manners of state machineries, God gave them a win which they are today celebrating.
"It's not by power of deep state nor might of the system, but it's by the power and might of God that this nation is going to move from this level to the next level." Ruto said.
Even as Ruto continues with his prayer rallies, a section of the clergy led by Rev Canon Sammy Wainaina and Archbishop Anthony Muheria castigated the use of that platform for political fortunes. According to Rev Sammy Wainaina, the alleged prayer rallies are not genuine and pastors and Bishops are now on hire by the political class.
"The ongoing 'prayers' rallies are not genuine. They're political meetings disguised as prayer meetings. Unfortunately the church has been hoodwinked. Pastors and Bishops are political brokers on hire by the political class. They're on their payrolls. A very sad state of the church. The salt has lost its taste and the light it's brightness." Rev Canon Sammy Wainaina
On his part, Anthony Muheria also said that Kenya should move on and not to dwell in political events disguised as thanksgiving services.
"We want to appreciate the new administration for acknowledging the place of God and the church in it's establishment. However, the government must also understand that there's time for everything. This is time to work, not to dwell in political events disguised as thanksgiving services." Rev Anthony Muheria.
