NEWS JUST IN: AU Terminates Raila Odinga's Job as Special Envoy to AU

AU TERMINATES Raila Odinga's mandate as its High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa; Moussa Faki Mahamat says newly created AUDA-NEPAD to take over role.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has been working at the Africa Union as a High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa where he served for several years. The former Prime Minister has over seen key infrastructure development like roads which has opened up the Africa continent as a business hub.

The former Envoy to the AU, Hon Raila Odinga has today been relieved off his duties from the African body. Raila has sought to have the duties relieved off during the the AU summit in Darkar Senegal where he asked the AU to allow him sought other agendas.

In an announcement made by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, the union wished Mr Odinga well and hoped that he will still be valuable to the union.

“Your role in this journey, Excellency, has been invaluable. Allow me to express my profound gratitude for accepting to serve in this role during the transition period, which has now come to a happy conclusion,” Mr Faki said.

The AU thanked Raila for his contribution during his tenure and wished him all the best in his endeavor.
