Jowi, Jowi, Raila Chants While Performing his Signature Dirge to Pay Last Respect to Late Magoha
Today all roads headed to Siaya County where Kenyans and leaders went to pay their last tribute and respect to the former Education CS professor George Magoha.
The late scholar had died some days ago after he developed complications and fainted. He was rushed to Nairobi hospital only to be confirmed dead. His death was a big blow to most Kenyans especially on the education sector where he had made a mark for himself following the radical changes that he had brought during his tenure.
The late Prof Magoha will be remembered for championing for the CBC system where he even begged the president William Ruto's administration not to scrap it but make it work.
The body of the late Prof was flown from Nairobi's Lee Funeral home onboard a military chopper to his home. Before then, his body was taken several places within the city where Prof Magoha had worked as the worked so that former colleagues and staff and students paid tribute for the fallen soldier.
In today's last send off, several politicians, leaders and former colleagues stormed his home where they paid their last respect. Among the notable figures who were present include Azimio leader Raila Odinga, former president Uhuru Kenyatta whom magoha had served under his tenure.
While Raila Odinga was paying his respect, he pulled out his Luo dirge ritual as he chanted jowi, jowi, jowi, a signature chant that he has always been using when bidding farewell to top government officials and his close friends. The late Magoha,s body will be laid to rest late this afternoon at his home in Siaya County marking the end of his journey here on earth.
His burial comes in less than a week after his brother's burial.
May he RIP.
