BREAKING NEWS: Ruto Announces Removal of Taxes on Gas & Directs Public Institutions to Start Using Gas by 2025
All public institutions and schools will be required to transition from using firewood and biomass to LPG gas by 2025 - President Ruto.
Kenya has been on the forefront advocating for the use of clean energy especially in cooking where a majority of Kenyans have been using fossil fuels that is detrimental to the environment. This has been in the efforts to fight the climatic changes occasioned by the use of dirty energy like firewoods, and charcoal.
Even as the government continues to advocate for this, Kenyans are concerned how this will be possible given the high cost associated with the clean energy like cooking gas and electricity.
Today, president William Ruto while launching Taifa gas in Dogo Kundu in Mombasa has urged public institutions and schools to consider the use of gas in cooking. Ruto said that by 2025, these Institutions should ensure that they have shifted to this clean energy.
This comes when the 6kg cooking gas hit a record high of sh 2600 from a low of sh 1800. With the launch of Taifa gas, Kenyans have expressed optimism that the cost might come down soon so as to safe them form this burden.
At the same time, Ruto announced that his administration will scrap all the taxes on gas so that it's cost can come down. the head of State explained that the Kenya Kwanza Government is working on an ambitious program to ensure that local cooking gas is made affordable.
