Balance of Power: Mudavadi Gets KSh 300m More than DP Gachagua from Ruto's Government
William Ruto's deputy Rigathi Gachagua has over and over again retaliated that they inherited a dilapidated economy from Uhuru Kenyatta. Gachagua has been blaming the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM chief Raila Odinga as the main thing that diverted the attention from the development to other matters.
Just the other day, the Treasury Cabinet Secretary Professor Njuguna Ndung'u said that the government is totally broke and it has no money. This is despite the unhealthy tax proposals that have been put forward by Ruto's administration to milk Kenyans every shilling.
Even as that continues, the government released a supplementary budged where it's now clear that Prime Cabinet Secretary, Hon Musalia Mudavadi got a lion's share compared to the second in command. According to the news, Prime CS's office was allocated a whooping Ksh. 752.9 million to use it in running the office and oversee the tasks that were allocated to the office.
Rigathi Gachagua who deputise the president, received KSh 450.85 million in his docket from the mini-budget. This is Ksh 300 million less than what Hon Musalia Mudavadi was allocated. The funds are budgeted for his roles including chairing Cabinet committees and overseeing the implementation of decisions passed by the Cabinet. The DP's other roles include relations between the County and National government and chairing the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council.
This comes at a time when the supremacy battle between the deputy president's office and that of the Prime Cabinet Secretary palys out on who is superior than the other despite Ruto spelling out their roles clearly through his executive order of 2023.
