All Users with Verification on their Facebook & Instagram will be Forced to Pay Ksh 1500 Monthly
Kenyans will now be required to pay for blue badges on Meta social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.
For years, social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram have been a source of entertainment with some users even making money out of these accounts. The 8se and registration has always been free of charge, but with the new announcement, Kenyans using these platforms will now have to make some payments.
In the latest announcement by the Meta company, the parent for both Facebook and Instagram, all it's users with blue badge will have to pay for it to be able to maintain it. This is after the company revealed that it will adopt a Twitter-like strategy of charging a subscription fee for verification.
While making this announcement, the company revealed that this move was touted as an effort to help content creators grow and build their audience.
“This week we’re starting to roll out Meta Verified — a subscription service that lets you verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, get extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support,” stated Meta CEO CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
While making this announcement, Meta company CEO, Mark Zuckerberg stated that there will be a lot of benefits for those who will have the blue badge among them having a direct customer care support with it's company.
While releasing the prices, the company announced that those with Apple's iOS will pay Ksh 1,500 per month with Android users paying Ksh 1,900 perm month. This move comes barely months after Twitter CEO Elon Musk launched the blue badge subscription for it's Twitter users which is currently going at Ksh 1,400 per month.
